Before You Begin

Installation Overview

Prepare Your Substrate

Ensure your mounting surface (concrete, wood deck, or steel) is level and structurally sound. Mark spigot locations every 3 feet along the railing run.

Mount Spigots

Drill holes according to the bolt pattern. Insert anchors for concrete, or use lag bolts for wood. Tighten spigots to the specified torque.

Set Glass Panels

Slide panels into spigots and tighten set screws. Use a level to ensure panels are plumb. Connect adjacent panels with 180° connectors.

Finish with Cap Rail

If using a cap rail, measure and cut to length. Snap onto the glass top edge and secure with clips at each spigot point. Add end caps and corner connectors.

Tools You'll Need

  • Hammer drill with masonry bits for concrete substrates
  • Standard drill/driver for wood or steel substrates
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torpedo level and 4 ft. level
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil or marker
  • Safety glasses and gloves
  • Miter saw with a non-ferrous blade for cutting cap rail

Substrate Preparation

Our spigots can be installed on concrete, wood, or steel. Each substrate requires the appropriate fastening method to ensure a secure installation.

  • Concrete: Use the supplied concrete anchors. Drill each hole to the required depth using a hammer drill and masonry bit. Thoroughly clean the holes before installing the anchors.
  • Wood: Fasten through the deck board and securely into the supporting joist below. We recommend a minimum 2x8 joist for proper structural support. Pre-drill pilot holes to help prevent splitting.
  • Steel: Use suitable through-bolts with backing plates where required. Drill the substrate to match the spigot's mounting pattern.

Always ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and capable of supporting the railing system.

Spigot Spacing

Proper spigot placement helps provide both a clean appearance and secure glass support. Follow the spacing chart provided with your order for exact placement.

As a general guideline:

  • Panels up to 36" wide typically use 2 spigots
  • Position spigots near each end of the panel
  • Use a 180° connector between panels on straight runs
  • Use a 90° connector at corners
  • Use a wall connector where the railing meets a wall

Spacing requirements can vary depending on your glass size, configuration, and local building requirements.

Glass Panel Installation

  1. Make sure each spigot is securely anchored and properly aligned.
  2. Loosen the spigot set screws enough to allow the glass to slide into position.
  3. Carefully lower the glass panel into the spigots.
    Use a level to check that the panel is properly aligned and plumb.
  4. Once positioned correctly, tighten the set screws evenly to secure the glass.
  5. Install the appropriate connectors between adjacent panels.

Never force or modify glass panels during installation.

Cap Rail Installation

  1. Measure each railing section carefully before cutting.
  2. Cut the aluminum cap rail to length using a miter saw with a non-ferrous blade.
  3. Insert the rubber gasket into the cap rail channel.
  4. Carefully press the cap rail onto the top edge of the glass.
  5. Secure the rail using the supplied clips or hardware.
  6. Finish with end caps and corner connectors where required.

Tip: Measure each section individually, especially around corners and wall connections, to ensure an accurate fit.
